General Information

Homework

Homework will be sent home on a Friday via Seesaw to be returned to school the following Wednesday.   If for any reason your child has a problem with any aspect of the homework, please let us know prior to due date so that we can explain it again or complete it in school.

Spellings will be sent home also via Seesaw and be tested on a Wednesday.

Times tables will be tested weekly on Fridays. This is particularly important for Y4 as they will be sitting the national times table test in June, where they are expected to have mastered all their times tables up to the 12 times table.

Your help with reading, spellings, times tables and homework is greatly appreciated.

Times tables

We practise our times tables regularly and have recently purchased Times tables rockstars to help us improve our fluency. Children have their own log ins and can practise both at school and at home, click the link below to find out more about using the website at home.

Reading

It is vital to be reading each and every night. Sometimes it can seem tricky to choose a book that you enjoy reading, if this is a problem for you it can be handy to use the BookTrust Book Finder website or talk to us at school.  We have compiled a list of some suggested books but feel free to let us know of others you have enjoyed so we can add them to the list.

All reading done in class, whether individual or group, will be recorded in your child’s Reading Record Book. Please continue to record any reading you do with your child in the book too. This covers any book you read with your child whether it’s a school book, library book or their own book from home. Don’t forget to sign the reading map in the back of the reading diary.

PE Kit

Getting out and getting moving is so important.

PE sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We will run our Monday mile, take part in our personal challenge on Challenge Tuesday and have a workout on Wednesday to keep those bodies active.

Your child needs to bring pumps or trainers as well as shorts/ tracksuit and t-shirt in order to participate. Please can all items be labelled and P.E kits be in school at the beginning of each week.
If your child wears earrings please can they be removed on these days or have tape to cover them up. If your child cannot take part in P.E please let us know.

We will also be having a few Forest School sessions on Friday afternoons.

Dinners

If your child is having school dinners, please inform the office on Mondays.

Snack

Children can bring a healthy snack to eat at break time. It makes a huge difference to children’s performance levels between 11-12 p.m.  The children may also bring a healthy snack to eat in the afternoon.

Water bottles

Please bring a named water bottle to school every day, especially on P.E days.

Home Time
