Welcome to Willow Class
Year 4/5 are taught in Willow class by Mrs. Morgan (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) and Mrs. Morris ( HLTA Thursday) assisted by our super teaching assistants: Mrs. Austin and Miss Parry.
Please read our latest newsletter and general information about Willow class or click the buttons at the bottom of the page to find out more about our routines and exciting curriculum areas.
We look forward to busy and exciting adventures together. If you have any questions please do pop in and ask.
Homework will be sent home on a Friday to be returned to school the following Wednesday. If for any reason your child has a problem with any aspect of the homework, please let us know prior to due date so that we can explain it again or complete it in school.
Spellings will be sent home in a separate book and be tested on a Wednesday.
Times tables will be tested weekly on Fridays. This is particularly important for Y4 as they will be sitting the national times table test in June, where they are expected to have mastered all their times tables up to the 12 times table.
Your help with reading, spellings, times tables and homework is greatly appreciated.
Maths Whizz is fun and engaging and is an individual program for individual children. Maths Whizz covers all areas of the curriculum and children earn coins for completing activities. They can use these coins to buy pets, toys (which the children can personalise) and play games within the programme. Aim for at least 30 minutes practice at home for your maths homework each week. Prizes are awarded in Golden Assembly on Fridays for the most progression points in each year group
We practise our times tables regularly and have recently purchased Times tables rockstars to help us improve our fluency. Children have their own log ins and can practise both at school and at home, click the link below to find out more about using the website at home.
It is vital to be reading each and every night. Sometimes it can seem tricky to choose a book that you enjoy reading, if this is a problem for you it can be handy to use the BookTrust Book Finder website or talk to us at school. We have compiled a list of some suggested books but feel free to let us know of others you have enjoyed so we can add them to the list.
