Sports Premium

The PE and sport premium is part of a government initiative designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils so that they develop healthy lifestyles. Every primary school in the country has been provided with funding to support additional sports provision. The additional funding  is ring fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school.

At West Felton C. of E Primary School, we believe PE & Sport plays an important role in making our  pupils happy and healthy individuals.  We aim to develop a balanced program offering a variety of activities which provide students with an opportunity to develop high levels of fitness, a broad spectrum of skills and the knowledge necessary to use the skills developed for a lifetime of active participation.

As such, we feel that we are spending our current Sports Premium Funding wisely to enable as many children as possible to access high quality PE lessons, participate in clubs and activities and to have the opportunity to engage in competitive matches and festivals with other local schools.

We are due to receive increased sports funding again in 2020-21. It will contribute to:

-continuing to develop links with local primary schools, our federation and the Corbet school through sports festivals, tournaments and matches.

-providing training to upper key stage 2 to provide lunchtime clubs

-to update PE equipment

-to continue provision of a range of clubs and activities to include more children in regular activity

-employment of specialist coaches to work alongside staff to develop their practice and provide high quality lessons for children.

-encouraging activity in a range of ways eg. daily mile, forest school, intra and inter events, sports week
