Our School Day

8:55 We start the school day by lining up on the front playground in our classes. Acorn and Catkins parents and carers are welcome to escort the pupils to the classroom and ‘stay and play’ until 9:15am should they wish.
9:00 Registration
9:00 – 10:30 Lesson time
10:30 – 10:45 Worship

This takes different forms on different days, including: a visit from the clergy, child-led worship and worship through song.

11:00 – 12:00 Lesson time
12:00 – 1:00 Lunch time

Between 12 and 12:30 the children eat their meal; either packed from home ordered from Brookes. KS1 continue to benefit from free school dinners. Due to our restricted space, pupils eat in the Pine Room, Sycamore Class, Willow Class and Beech Class.

From 12:30 – 1:00 the children enjoy our outdoor spaces – weather permitting. Our lunchtime supervisors are on hand to support the children and encourage them to socialise. We also have a team of Y5/6 ‘Sports Leaders’ who organise games throughout the week.

1:00 – 1:30 Intervention and Guided Reading

During this time, teachers are based in their classrooms working with a small group on Guided Reading where high-quality texts are read together.

Our Teaching Assistants are deployed throughout the school with small groups of children working on specific, tailor-made intervention strategies including: handwriting, Cool Kids (a programme developed on Occupational Therapists), Star Spell, Nessy (a dyslexia friendly spelling programme) Talk Talk, Social Skills and Maths Boost.

1:30 – 3:15 Lesson time

Class specific timetables are issued at the beginning of each new term.
