Reading with your child:

Please can you hear your child read as often as possible, we like to suggest a minimum of 4 times a week. The children have a reading record for you to record the date and title of book and any comments you wish to make.  Please continue  to sign your child’s reading map challenge at the back of their reading diary – certificates and book prizes are awarded!

Books will be changed in class by a member of the Oak team once your child has read it. We will send home more than 1 book at a time and we have a great selection of books suitable for each individual reader.

PE:

PE sessions will take place on  Wednesdays with Mr. Hughes and currently a  Your child needs to bring pumps or trainers as well as shorts/ tracksuit and t-shirt in order to participate. Please can all items be labelled and P.E kits be in school at the beginning of each week.

If your child wears earrings please can they be removed on these days or have tape to cover them up and hair tied back. If your child cannot take part in P.E please let us know.

Forest school takes place on a Friday afternoon until the end of term. Please bring warm, spare kit and wellies.

Water:

Please bring a named water bottle so that your child can have water to drink throughout the day.

Snack:

Children are given a piece of fruit each morning break time, in the afternoon you can provide your child with a healthy snack.

Homework:

Children will be given homework on a Thursday (this will include spellings) and is to be returned to school on Tuesday. Homework will be based upon something done in class that week and is used to help reinforce learning taken place. We understand children and their families have busy schedules so please if there is a concern, or you need support/ resources please come and speak to a member of the Oak team.

Maths Whizz:

Maths Whizz is fun and engaging and is an individual program for individual children. Maths Whizz covers all areas of the curriculum and children earn coins for completing activities. They can use these coins to buy pets, toys and play games in the study which the children can personalise. Aim for 3 progress points a week.
