We believe a sound grasp of computing is essential in modern society.   At West Felton Primary the use of modern technology is integral to all teaching, computing is taught as a discrete subject and is also used to enhance teaching and learning in other curriculum areas.

All classes are equipped with interactive whiteboards which include digital projectors. We are lucky to benefit from a computer suite with 15 new PC’s.  We also have a trolley of  laptops which can be used throughout the school site and have recently purchased a class set of tablets and Lego Wedo that are used in the classrooms to support learning across the curriculum.  All computers are connected to the school intranet and have access to the internet and e-mail.  All pupils work in the ICT suite for at least one session a week.  Other ICT resources are used on a daily basis.

Our teachers plan exciting programmes of work to develop our programming skills, data handling and creative use of IT.   Alongside this we also have an in depth ‘E-Safety’ units of work which ensure our children know how to keep themselves safe when using modern technology.

Our big concepts in Computing at West Felton:
